Our ceramics area is one of the most versatile components of the Craft Center. It is also quite easy to learn! Ceramic figures are made when a liquid clay (called slip) is poured into a mold to make a shape. The piece then dries, is fired in our kilns, and the artist can decorate it using our wide variety of glazes.
We have over 200 molds in stock -- everything from tiny figurines to a giant, 22-inch tall mug! Slip sold in the Craft Center includes use of the molds, kilns, cleaning tools, brushes and glazes.
From time to time we also stock bisque ware, or already-fired ceramic pieces, for special projects. Currently we have a large stock of plates, mugs and bowls selling for $5 each. There are usually smaller pieces available in the Play Pen for $1 each. You can decorate these with our glazes and pick them up after they are fired.
